Recover unfinished form responses
See the answers people gave before they left, find the question where they stop, and send them a reminder with a link that reopens the form exactly where they left off.
Free forever, no credit card.
Most people who start a form never finish it. They get interrupted, the form asks one thing too many, or they mean to come back later and don’t. Without anything in place, those answers are simply gone, and you never learn where it went wrong.
Nextforms keeps what they gave you, shows where they stop, and can bring them back.
Answers kept as they fill in
Switch on Save unfinished responses and answers are saved as people go, from their first answer. Unfinished responses get their own tab next to your submitted ones, with when they started, when they last answered and where they stopped. Open one to see every answer so far.
When someone does finish, their unfinished response becomes their normal response. It doesn’t count twice and it doesn’t linger in the list. Unfinished responses are kept for 30 days and then removed, together with any files uploaded along the way.
See where people stop
The form’s overview reads as a funnel: how many people opened the form, how many started answering, and how many submitted. Underneath, Where people stop lists your questions top to bottom with how many people left while on each one, before answering it, the biggest highlighted.
That turns “people don’t finish my form” into “people stop at the budget question”, which you can actually fix. It also shows people who answered everything but never pressed Submit, which usually points at the last step itself: a payment, a long review page, or a button that’s easy to miss.
Remind them, with a link that picks up where they left off
Add a workflow that starts on Form abandoned instead of Form submitted, and choose how long someone has to be inactive: 30 minutes up to 2 days. Add Send reminder and they get an email with a link that reopens the form with their answers filled in, on any device. When they submit, it’s their response like any other.
Because it’s a workflow, a reminder is only the start:
- A short sequence. Remind them after an hour, wait two days, remind them once more. The moment they submit, the rest stops, so nobody gets a reminder after finishing it.
- Tell your team. Post to Slack or Microsoft Teams when a promising lead drops off.
- Keep the lead anyway. Send the answers they did give to Notion, Airtable, Google Sheets or your own webhook, so a half-filled quote request still lands in your pipeline.
- Only when it matters. Add a condition: only remind people who got past the pricing page, or only those who picked a certain plan.
Respectful by default
Reminders are capped at three per unfinished response, all reminders on the form together, and only ever go to the address the first one went to. Forms that send reminders run spam protection before saving anyone’s answers, so nobody can use your form to send email to strangers. Saving unfinished responses is off until you switch it on, form by form.
How it compares
Elsewhere this sits on expensive tiers or behind add-ons: viewing unfinished responses on a business plan, and abandonment emails as an extra monthly add-on on top of it. In Nextforms, unfinished responses, drop-off per question and reminder workflows are part of Pro. The started-versus-submitted funnel on the overview is free on every plan.
Good for
Quote and demo requests, job and membership applications, event registrations, order forms, onboarding forms, and any form where one lost response is a lost customer.
